Are you someone who takes pride in getting the little details right? Do you enjoy helping people, solving problems and being part of a friendly, supportive team? If so, we would love to hear from you!
At The Woodlands School, our staff make an incredible difference to the lives of our children and young people every day. Behind them is a dedicated team who help keep everything running smoothly, and we are looking for a new colleague to join us.
We are seeking a friendly, organised and highly accurate Payroll and HR Support Administrator who understands that getting payroll right really matters. We want someone who takes ownership of their work, enjoys working with numbers and has a genuine commitment to providing an excellent service to colleagues.
What will you be doing?
Your main responsibility will be supporting the accurate and timely processing of our monthly payroll. This will include:
Preparing, checking and submitting monthly payroll information, ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Calculating final pay for leavers, including outstanding holiday entitlement, deductions and other adjustments.
Checking payroll information carefully, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues before submission.
Acting as a friendly and helpful point of contact for staff, answering payroll questions and explaining information clearly.
Liaising with external payroll providers, pension providers and other agencies to resolve queries.
Maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring changes to contracts, hours and salaries are processed correctly.
Supporting the wider HR team with general administration, employee documentation and day-to-day HR processes when payroll deadlines have been met.
Who are we looking for?
Attention to detail is absolutely essential for this role. We are looking for someone who doesn't just complete a task but takes pride in checking that it has been done correctly.
You will be someone who:
Has excellent attention to detail and a methodical, accurate approach to work.
Is confident working with numbers, spreadsheets and payroll information.
Takes responsibility for their work and proactively identifies and resolves errors.
Is approachable, patient and confident communicating with colleagues at all levels.
Can explain payroll matters clearly and sensitively, recognising how important pay is to every member of staff.
Is organised, dependable and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Understands the importance of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
Enjoys being part of a team and is happy to support colleagues with wider administrative tasks.
Previous experience in payroll administration, including payroll calculations, would be highly desirable. Experience of working within a school or HR environment would be an advantage, although we are equally interested in candidates from other sectors who have the right skills and approach.
Working hours - we can be flexible!
Ideally, we are looking for someone to work Thursdays and Fridays, but we understand the importance of finding a working pattern that suits you.
We can offer flexibility around start and finish times, including 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm, and are happy to discuss arrangements with the right candidate.
Why join The Woodlands School?
We are a school with a big heart, high aspirations and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
You will be joining a welcoming and dedicated team where your contribution will be valued. We believe in supporting one another, celebrating successes and creating a positive working environment where people feel appreciated.
Although this is a role behind the scenes, the work you do will make a real difference to the colleagues who support our wonderful students every day.
If you are a people person with a head for numbers, a keen eye for detail and a desire to be part of something special, we would love you to join our Woodlands family.
