We are seeking a dedicated PE & Cover Teacher to join our enthusiastic team and take a lead in developing PE, school-wide enrichment, and cover provision. This is a dynamic and rewarding role combining the teaching of high-quality PE lessons, professional development leadership, school enrichment, and general classroom cover across the academy.


About the Role:

As our PE & Cover Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping physical education provision across the academy, as well as supporting high-quality teaching across the curriculum through structured class cover. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality PE lessons across the academy (EYFS to KS2).

  • Providing general classroom cover across subjects and year groups, ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absence or PPA time.

  • Leading the development and mentoring of teaching staff in their delivery of PE.

  • Organising and overseeing school games, competitions, and participation in local sports events.

  • Enhancing the school day with structured, engaging enrichment and games during breaks and lunchtimes.

  • Driving initiatives to improve pupils’ physical well-being, teamwork, and resilience.

  • Supporting the school’s broader curriculum through the promotion of healthy lifestyles and physical activity.

  • Is an outstanding and enthusiastic classroom practitioner.

  • Has a strong background in PE and/or experience in providing effective classroom cover across a range of subjects.

  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity in maximising pupil engagement through sport, physical activity, and enrichment.

  • Is committed to inclusive, high-expectation teaching for all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, or in receipt of Pupil Premium.

  • Embraces our Growth Mindset ethos and supports children to take ownership of their learning.

  • Is adaptable, proactive, and excited to contribute across the whole school.
