PE Leader and Teacher of Boys' PE job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the largest school in Cambridgeshire, and one with outstanding facilities for PE and Sports. These include a heated indoor swimming pool, a well-equipped gymnasium and sports hall, astro turf tennis courts, hard playing areas for netball, a modern fitness suite, grass pitches and an oversized ‘3G’ all-weather playing surface. The adjacent parkland is also used for a range of activities, including cross-country running, orienteering and problem solving /team challenges. PE is popular at both KS4 and 5 and we offer GCSE PE and OCR CNAT Sports Studies at KS4 and at A-Level we offer A-Level PE and Level 3 CTEC Sport.
The successful candidate will join a large, collaborative and strong team of teachers and support staff. From the moment you join us, you will feel welcomed and supported by the whole school team, ranging from ECTs through to highly experienced practitioners.
The successful candidate will ideally have a specialism in rugby, but this is not compulsory. They must also be willing to provide a rich and broad extra-curricular programme for our students through leading weekly training and fixtures in a range of sports. The main responsibilities of this role will be leading the curriculum and administration for the GCSE PE course, so experience of teaching and/or leading GCSE PE is advantageous.
The school offers a bespoke CPD programme, research and development, links and networks with other outstanding schools as well as a plethora of extra-curricular and cross-curricular working opportunities.
The school sees the form tutor as a key role in the support, development and welfare of the students and teachers are expected to undertake this role with the same standards and commitment as their subject role.
