What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a determined, enthusiastic professional, who wants to work with our young people, to ensure that, regardless of starting points or barriers to learning, they progress in the wider variety of physical activities available to the best of their ability. In return, we offer a comprehensive induction programme and continual professional development. As a teacher at Selby High School, we will provide you with excellent training opportunities, and encourage you to have high aspirations for your future career. If you are an ECT, we offer a high quality support programme to help you develop your skills in a supportive environment. Physical Education is held in high esteem at Selby High School, and you will work in partnership with the Director of Sport and the rest of the team to ensure an engaging curriculum and fantastic outcomes for the students.

Selby High School is a great place to work. Please, just take a little time to look at the whole school twitter feed https://twitter.com/SelbyHigh and the PE twitter feed https://twitter.com/SelbyHighPE to see some of the opportunities of the school. If you have a little longer to spend, our school website at https://www.selby-high.org.uk/ gives a real insight into the character of our school.

What the school offers its staff

The successful candidate will work in a supportive school where students achieve and make sustained progress as a result of our ‘can do’ ethos. Successful applicants will need to have experience of teaching girls in physical education and be willing to contribute to the department's extensive extra-curricular program, with a specific focus on girls' fixtures and opportunities. Experience or a willingness to deliver PSHE would be beneficial.

If successful, we offer you the opportunity to work in a school with a strong culture of learning, where your contribution to the PE team and the school as a whole, will be valued. Working in a friendly school community, we invite you to join us in our commitment to inspire every student with the skills, resilience, independence and confidence they need to achieve their potential. As a school, we have an extensive CPD programme to support you in your career. We also provide all our staff with a laptop computer.

Excellent learning and teaching is at the heart of all that we do and is supported with a full professional development programme and outstanding induction programme. Staff welfare is of paramount importance to the school and successful applicants would be able to benefit from the range of staff wellbeing initiatives that are provided.
