Peripatetic Music Teacher (Piano and Guitar) job summary
Peripatetic Music Teacher - Piano and Guitar - Required for September 2026
This role is engaged on a casual zero hours basis. Current demand is approximately thought to be 5 to 6 hours per week, although this may increase or decrease depending on student demand and the school's operational needs.
There is no guarantee of a minimum of hours and hours may vary throughout the academic year.
The Role:
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Peripatetic Music Teacher (Piano and Guitar) to support students in developing their instrumental skills and musical confidence.
This is a casual zero-hours position, with work offered according to student demand. The successful candidate will provide individual tuition to students across a range of ages and abilities.
The role would suit an experienced instrumental teacher who is able to teach both piano and guitar and who can engage, motivate and inspire young musicians.
You will normally have either several years’ experience in classroom teaching with a suitable higher-level qualification and some instrumental specialism or be an instrumental specialist with a music degree and be able to perform at an equivalent standard on your main instrument.

We are looking for a reliable and motivational individual who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can engage and motivate students with a wide repertoire of music.
You will be passionate about music and demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm in the way you teach. Experience working with young people is desirable.

- An accomplished pianist and guitarist with the ability to inspire and motivate young musicians
- Experienced in teaching children and young people across a range of abilities
- Able to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
- Well organised and able to manage lesson timetables, attendance records and student progress
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing student demand
- Reliable, professional and capable of working independently
- Confident using basic ICT systems to support communication and administration
- Passionate about music and committed to helping students develop their confidence and skills
- Professional and discreet, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
- A team player with a positive, enthusiastic and can-do approach
