Abbey Road Primary School is seeking to appoint a caring, committed and enthusiastic Personal Care Assistant to join our hardworking and dedicated staff team.

This is a permanent role commencing in September 2026.

Contract: Term time only plus INSET days (45.6 weeks per year)

Pay Grade: Support Staff Grade 1 (£24,796 FTE / £19,048 actual)


About the Role

The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers, teaching assistants and the school SENDCo to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Year 3. The role will involve supporting the child's personal care needs as well as helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to thrive within an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a committed and skilled team that is passionate about providing a caring, engaging and successful learning experience for all children.


We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children and places their wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.
  • Has experience of working with children with SEND and holds high aspirations for their achievement.
  • Believes in the capacity of all children to learn, develop and succeed, regardless of the challenges they may face.
  • Demonstrates a positive, enthusiastic and caring attitude.
  • Can show initiative, creativity and resilience.
  • Is a strong team player who is willing to go the extra mile to make school a great experience for our pupils.
  • Has a good standard of written and spoken English.
  • Experience of manual handling is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
