Personal Development Lead job summary

We are looking for a Personal Development Leader who can build strong relationships, hold high expectations and be the calm, consistent adult who notices when something isn’t quite right. You’ll get to know your year group inside out - celebrating their successes, helping them navigate the bumps along the way and working with families and staff to make sure every student is known, valued and empowered to flourish.

If you can combine warmth and humour with high expectations, stay calm when things get lively and genuinely want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

The Personal Development Leader plays a key role in supporting the pastoral, behavioural, attendance and personal development needs of students within a designated year group.

Working closely with students, staff, families and external agencies, the Personal Development Leader ensures that every student is known, valued and empowered to flourish. Through strong relationships, high expectations, early intervention and effective pastoral support, the role provides visible, consistent and proactive leadership of the year group, with a strong focus on attendance, behaviour, safeguarding, personal development and student well-being.

The Personal Development Leader will take ownership of the year group, knowing its strengths, needs and priorities, and working collaboratively to ensure students are safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

See attached Job Description for full details and key responsibilities.

Welcome to the Sarum Academy website. Sarum Academy is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England Academy founded in 2010 delivering high quality, non-selective, personalised education to pupils aged 11-19 years. The Academy is a member of the Magna Learning Partnership Academy Trust.

Sarum Academy is an ambitious school, which celebrates excellence, nurtures creativity and engenders social responsibility. We work with all pupils in helping each child to think big, work hard, exceed their ambitions and in doing so be the person God created them to be.

What makes our school different is the care we afford every member of our Academy. Relationships founded on trust and respect are the lifeblood of our warm and happy school, this is why we care for one another, this is why our pupils achieve more than they think possible.

As a Church of England School our ethos is underpinned by Christian values and principles and embraces the Church of England vision for young people, a vision of ‘human flourishing for all’. The four basic elements of wisdom, hope, community and dignity are reflected in our values of respect, aspiration, excellence, service, tenacity and partnership. Sarum Academy pupils leave the school as young adults, successful and thoughtful, and we are proud of each and every one of them and the contributions them make.
