What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an experienced, values driven secondary teacher to work with children who have been, or are at risk of being, permanently excluded, many of whom have EHCPs. The Voyage Learning Campus is an all through Pupil Referral Unit and the successful applicant will be based within our Phase Two team, working with children from secondary age from Year 8 through to Year 11.

We are a trauma informed provision and work to build trusting relationships with children and families to support them to make the transition back into mainstream school, or into specialist provision if appropriate. The successful candidate would need to be confident in working with children whose presenting behaviours can be challenging to ensure good progress, both academically and socially and will be able to teach a range of literacy based subjects to include PSHE, citizenship and be able to deliver our ‘Passport for Life’ curriculum to develop a range of vital life skills. As a classroom teacher you will plan and deliver learning activities that meet the diverse needs of the students you work with, embedding our Relationships and Behaviour Policy as part of your everyday practice.

The successful candidate will need a high level of resilience and a commitment to helping every child achieve more than they believe is possible

What the school offers its staff

You will be joining an experienced, highly skilled and collaborative team, with a supportive Senior Leadership Team and Management Committee. There are a range of opportunities for professional development, including work with colleagues in our secondary PRU and medical tuition.

Further details about the role

We strongly urge anyone interested in applying to come and visit the school (once described to us as “an afternoon of magic”!) to meet the team and see us in action.

Commitment to safeguarding

The Voyage Learning Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and children. All appointments are subject to all necessary pre-employment checks including; an enhanced DBS, Prohibition check; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable), qualifications (where applicable) and satisfactory references.
