Play Co-ordinator job summary
St Laurence Church Junior School is a 3-form entry junior school located in Northfield, Birmingham. As a diocesan church school, our core Christian values of forgiveness, friendship, thankfulness, generosity, curiosity and perseverance are at the heart of everything that we do and our vision statement of ‘Learning, Loving and Sharing, guided by Jesus’ underpins all that we do at the school. We are an OFSTED rated ‘good’ school (February 2024) and looking for a Play Coordinator to support in the implementation of an Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) scheme. In return we will offer training where necessary to the right candidate in order to further develop their skills and knowledge. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and innovative play leader. St Laurence Junior School has just begun the journey of play development with OPAL. This role gives someone the fantastic opportunity to work at the very beginning and be part of shaping supportive, meaning full and productive play for all of our pupils during lunchtimes.
Duties include:
Ensuring the well-being of all pupils
Ensure a diverse range of playable resources are provided for, and are accessible to, all children
Discuss resources with the children (School Council and Pupil Leadership Team) and use their views to create development plans
Ensuring enriching play events or opportunities are created Create opportunities for play to support the social and behavioural development of pupils
Work with Year 6 Young Leaders who support other children with their play
Working hours: 11 hours per week. Timetabled to support lunchtimes from 12:00pm - 2:00pm with the additional 1 hour to be arranged on ad hoc basis.
This position will be remunerated at Grade 2, pro rata for the hours above.
