Play Coordinator job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Play Co-ordinator to join our Play Team every lunchtime to help provide outstanding play opportunities for all children.

At The Batt School, we are passionate about giving children the very best play experiences. We are committed to the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) approach, which recognises the vital role that play has in children’s wellbeing, creativity, confidence and development.

Play makes up around 20% of a child’s time at primary school, so we believe that lunchtime should be much more than simply a break from learning. It is an opportunity for children to explore, create, take risks, build friendships, develop independence and, most importantly, have fun.

Working alongside our Curricular Lead for Play, you will help develop our play spaces, resources and team practices, ensuring that children have a wide range of exciting, inclusive and engaging opportunities every day.

As Play Co-ordinator, you will:

  • Help create a fun, inclusive and stimulating play environment for all children.
  • Work alongside the Curricular Lead for Play and wider play team to develop and improve our play provision.
  • Support children to explore, create, collaborate and develop independence through play.
  • Help organise, maintain and develop play resources and spaces across the school site.
  • Encourage positive relationships and support children in managing challenge and resolving conflicts during play.
  • Contribute ideas and enthusiasm to the ongoing development of our OPAL provision.
  • Help ensure that play is accessible and enjoyable for every child.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is creative, energetic, child-centred and passionate about the importance of play.

Professional Development

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake Play Work training as part of their continuing professional development (CPD), developing their knowledge, skills and experience in supporting high-quality play provision.

Hours

Daily: 11:30am - 1:15pm

Additional hours: Up to 3 hours per week, overseen by the Curricular Lead for Play, to develop new initiatives and opportunities, and to attend Play Team meetings.

Total: 11.75 hours per week (with possible overtime at the discretion of the Executive Head for specific projects)

Join us

If you believe that children deserve exciting, creative and inspiring opportunities to play, explore and learn beyond the classroom, we would love to hear from you.

Come and help us make lunchtimes a highlight of the school day!
