Play Leader & Sports Co-ordinator job summary
We are seeking a Play Leader & Sports Co-ordinator to join our team and work with us on our mission to provide the best possible play experiences. Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) is relatively new to our school and we are looking for a dynamic person who will play a key part in the implementation and long-term success of OPAL Play. St Mary's is a large primary with a huge field which is used all year round for den building, digging and exploring and an all weather running path. As a school community we have a collective commitment to developing healthy and active children and we put children at the heart of all we do.
The ideal person will be passionate about providing quality play experiences to children, be adaptable to this new role and be able to promote OPAL to all stakeholders. Could you be our ‘Play’ ambassador?
This role will also include co-ordinating our sports events taking responsibility for organising (not leading) additional sporting experiences across the school such as cricket coaching and multi-skills events.
We are looking for someone who:
•will ensure a diverse range of playable resources are provided for, and are accessible to, all children at break and lunchtimes
•will work with children and use their views to create and develop OPAL Play
•will create opportunities for play to support the social and behavioural development of pupils
•provide support and training for other school staff or pupils as required
•will liaise with other local schools and the regional School Sports Co-ordinator.

•is a strong communicator
•enjoys working as part of a team
This role will be for 17 ½ hours per week, 10:30am to 2pm Monday to Friday, term time only. Additional hours will be claimable as required. The contract is to start as soon as possible and will be a fixed term contract up to the 31st August 2020 however there will be the potential for it to be extended.
