Play Worker job summary
We seek enthusiastic, positive people who work well with children, staff and parents, and can remain calm when there is lots going on!
You will work as part of a team to run Belleville Primary School’s new ‘wraparound’ provision (breakfast club and after school club) which will start running in September 2025.
This will involve supporting children to participate in engaging and enriching activities, and making sure they follow relevant policies and procedures to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
You will have
- experience of working with children of primary school age
- an understanding of good quality childcare
- an understanding of safeguarding and child protection duties
- the ability to engage children in fun and developmental activities
- empathy, sensitivity and great communication skills
- high expectations of yourself and others.
The role will involve:
- Providing care for the children attending the programme, supervising them during activities and when eating, and ensuring they feel safe and looked after at all times.
- Encouraging positive behaviour (“Making the Right Choices”), independence and self-esteem.
- Making sure equipment is set up, used, maintained and put away safely.
- Ensuring the safe transfer of children to class (after breakfast club) or collection (after school).
