What skills and experience we're looking for

The children, staff and Governors of Ecclesfield Primary School are looking to appoint a Playworker.

At Ecclesfield we understand that play is a vital part of a child’s development. Playing helps children’s brains to develop and their language and communication skills mature. Therefore, we are looking to recruit a playworker to add to our already dedicated team.

We are looking for someone to join us who wants to work directly with the children, leading play activities and overseeing the children. There will be some supervision of the children having their lunch either in the classroom or dining halls.

The successful candidate will understand how to

  • Work well in a team
  • Communicate effectively with children and staff members
  • Promote positive behaviour
  • Encourage children to play well together
  • Delivering creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment

If you are motivated, enthusiastic and have high expectations of all our children we would welcome your application.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. A clear enhanced DBS check is required for this post. Online searches will be undertaken on shortlisted candidates as part of our Safer Recruitment Practice.

What the school offers its staff

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. We welcome applications from everyone. Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

Further information about the job

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
Visas cannot be sponsored.
If you're interested in teaching or training to teach in England as an international citizen, we can help you understand your next steps.

Commitment to safeguarding

Ecclesfield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. All shortlisted candidates will be asked to disclose any cautions or convictions prior to interview. The amendments to the ROA Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain convictions and cautions are 'protected' and are therefore not subject to disclosure to employers. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website.
