Playworker job summary

Prestolee Multi Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Playworker to join the Before & After School Club team at Tottington Primary School. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with primary-aged children and have experience in a school, childcare, playwork or similar setting. A relevant childcare or playwork qualification is desirable but not essential.

The Role

As a Playworker, you will play a key role in supporting the effective daily operation of Tottington Primary School's Before & After School Club. You will help provide a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where children can relax, play and develop through a range of stimulating activities before and after the school day.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will:

  • Support the planning and delivery of fun, engaging and age-appropriate play activities for children aged 4–11.
  • Supervise and care for pupils, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships that support children's social, emotional and physical development.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality before and after school club that reflects the values and ethos of the school and Trust.
  • Promote safeguarding, health and safety, and positive behaviour at all times.

    We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working with children in a school, after school club, childcare or playwork setting.
  • The ability to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where children can learn and play.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and positive behaviour management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A warm, caring and child-centred approach.
  • Good organisational skills with a flexible and practical attitude.
  • A commitment to supporting children's social, emotional and physical development through play.
  • A desire for continued professional development.
