Join Our Team as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) at St Mary's CE VA Primary School!

Are you ready to make a difference in children’s lives while working in a supportive and inspiring environment? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic HLTA to join our team.

  • Hours: 13 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (can be 2 days a week or across multiple days - this is negotiable)

  • Salary: NJC Grade 8-12

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA or someone ready to step into the role with strong classroom leadership skills. While a formal HLTA qualification is desirable, it’s not essential—we’re looking for individuals with proven knowledge and experience of leading in the classroom.

As an HLTA, you’ll support teachers by leading agreed learning activities under their supervision. This may involve:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons for individuals, groups, or whole classes.

  • Monitoring pupil progress and assessing, recording, and reporting on their achievements and development.

  • Working across all key stages.

At St Mary's, we believe in creating opportunities for children to thrive and grow into confident, successful adults. We want to empower every child to shape their own future and achieve their dreams.

What We Offer:

  • A positive, friendly, and supportive working environment.

  • A school community dedicated to achieving the best for every child.

  • National terms and conditions.

  • Membership in the Local Government Pension Scheme.

  • Continuing Professional Development opportunities.

  • Access to wellbeing initiatives and our Employee Assistance Programme.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone passionate about making a difference in children’s lives.

  • A team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Experience leading within the classroom, with the ability to motivate and inspire pupils.

  • Flexibility to work across all key stages.
