Salary: Grade 3, Point 3-4: £17,027 - £17,294 per annum (subject to experience)

Contract: 30 hours per week, 38.4 weeks per year (term time plus 4 inset days), fixed term until July 2026

Buckland Newton Primary School are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed Pre-School Assistant to join our nurturing early years team.

As a key member of our school community you will help to create a safe, stimulating and supportive environment where every child can thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with young children in an early years setting
  • Demonstrate warmth, patience and strong communication skills
  • Support children's learning through play and planned activities
  • Work collaboratively with the wider staff team
  • Promote a caring and inclusive environment where all children feel valued
  • Essential: NVQ2 in Early Years
  • Desirable: Food Hygeine and Paediatric First Aid certificates

It will have contact with young people on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will have to meet the person specification and the post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and Children’s Barred List check. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
