Our Partnership is seeking to appoint a Premises Assistant who will play a crucial role in the smooth running of a school. You will ensure school buildings and grounds provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will work alongside the Facilities Manager on all aspects of site maintenance, and take a key role in ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.
The individual will undertake responsibility for the maintenance of multiple sites (St Jude’s and Peter Hills) and the cleanliness and security of the buildings. They will contribute to the provision of high quality maintenance, security and cleanliness of the school buildings and grounds to ensure that students have a comfortable, clean, safe and well maintained environment in which to work or otherwise use the school facilities.
The successful candidate will have:
Understanding of the role of Premises Assistant or Caretaker
Experience of general repairs and maintenance
The ability to work with initiative and to have a good humoured enthusiastic approach to the role.
To have good written and oral communication skills.
The ability to appropriately follow instructions.
To be familiar with and apply whole school policies, procedures and standards and be willing to implement them in a consistent manner.
Knowledge and understanding of regular health & safety checks under the guidance of the Headteacher.
Carry out regular site inspections, identifying and prioritising repairs and maintenance needs
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including carrying out and recording risk assessments
Liaise with contractors and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance work
Support the school with emergency procedures, including acting as Fire Warden and coordinating evacuations

The Premises Assistant will be working alongside the Facilities Manager across The Partnership Schools, on a rotational basis and daily placement from 4-6pm at St Peter’s.
This is a great opportunity for someone willing to develop their skills and knowledge on premises maintenance and management.
