Premises Officer job summary

Premises Officer - Make a Difference Behind the Scenes!

Are you practical, proactive and passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces? Do you take pride in a job well done and enjoy a role where no two days are quite the same? We'd love to hear from you!

At St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, we believe that great schools deserve great environments, and that's where you come in!

We're looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hands-on Premises Officer to join our Trust Estates Team, helping to keep our academies safe, secure and looking their very best.

From maintaining our buildings and grounds to making sure everything runs safely and smoothly, you'll play a vital part in creating the welcoming, well-maintained spaces our children and colleagues deserve.

This is a varied and rewarding role where your practical skills, initiative and attention to detail will make a genuine difference every day.

Your role - keeping our schools at their best

As a Premises Officer, you'll help ensure our school buildings and grounds are well maintained, safe and ready for everything the school day brings.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the Trust Estates Team, supporting the day-to-day management of our premises and contributing to our wider estates strategy.

Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Keeping our schools looking their best - Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs and general upkeep of our buildings and grounds.

  • Making safety a priority - Undertaking inspections, identifying and reporting potential hazards, maintaining compliance records and supporting our statutory health and safety responsibilities.

  • Keeping everything running smoothly - Supporting site security, monitoring heating and building systems and helping ensure our facilities operate efficiently.

  • Working together to get things done - Supporting contractors, maintaining premises documentation and working collaboratively with school colleagues and the wider Estates Team.

  • Being ready for the unexpected - Helping with emergency and contingency arrangements, responding flexibly to changing priorities and participating in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

  • Making a positive difference for the future - Supporting energy efficiency, reducing waste and helping promote sustainable practices across our buildings.

Could you be just who we're looking for?

We're looking for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards and understands just how important a safe, well-maintained school environment is.

You'll bring practical maintenance experience, good health and safety awareness and a proactive approach to getting things done.

Being organised, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team will be important, as will your willingness to work flexibly across our school sites.

Above all, we're looking for someone who cares about doing a great job and understands that their work, however big or small the task, makes a real difference to our school communities.

  • Opportunities to grow - With 25 academies in our Trust and 84 across the Diocese, there are genuine opportunities to develop your skills, progress your career and explore new possibilities.

  • Support when life gets challenging - Our Employee Assistance Programme provides free, confidential and independent information, advice and guidance 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with access to counselling support where appropriate.

  • A pension that invests in your future - Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, offering valuable retirement benefits and generous employer contributions.

  • Fair pay and conditions - Our commitment to nationally agreed terms and conditions means we recognise and value the important work our colleagues do.

  • A role with real purpose - The chance to be part of a team where your work contributes directly to creating fantastic places for children to learn and colleagues to work.

We're proud of our schools, we're proud of our people, and we'd love you to be part of our Trust family.
