Primary Mastery Lead Teacher - English job summary

Location: Collaborative Learning Trust - Otley, Bramhope, Leeds
Contract: 0.5/0.6 FTE temporary for one year

We are seeking an excellent practitioner with a track record of improving reading attainment through developing phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension across the primary phase. Expected to work across a partnership of primary schools and support academic transition through close links and planning with secondary colleagues.

The role would suit an experienced and aspiring subject leader who is interested in getting whole school leadership experience and would involve 2½ days in schools working alongside colleagues, leading training and team teaching, plus ½ day planning and preparation time, reviewing progress and reporting to the MAT leaders. This role is for one year – appointment can be via a secondment if current school was agreeable.

The successful candidate needs to demonstrate:
• excellent subject knowledge
• an understanding of current theories about how children learn - in particular an interest (and ideally experience in) the Mastery Learning approach*)
• an ability to demonstrate a strategic approach to raising attainment
• an ability to lead training for colleagues
• experience of developing a positive reading culture for pupils, parents, and staff

*additional Mastery training available for the right candidate
