Contract: 0.5/0.6 FTE temporary for one year

We are seeking an excellent practitioner with a track record of improving reading attainment through developing phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension across the primary phase. Expected to work across a partnership of primary schools and support academic transition through close links and planning with secondary colleagues.

The role would suit an experienced and aspiring subject leader who is interested in getting whole school leadership experience and would involve 2½ days in schools working alongside colleagues, leading training and team teaching, plus ½ day planning and preparation time, reviewing progress and reporting to the MAT leaders. This role is for one year – appointment can be via a secondment if current school was agreeable.

The successful candidate needs to demonstrate:
• excellent subject knowledge
• an understanding of current theories about how children learn - in particular an interest (and ideally experience in) the Mastery Learning approach*)
• an ability to demonstrate a strategic approach to raising attainment
• an ability to lead training for colleagues
• experience of developing a positive reading culture for pupils, parents, and staff

*additional Mastery training available for the right candidate

The Collaborative Learning Trust places children at the very centre of everything that we do. The provision of key central services by the Trust enables individual schools to focus even more on providing an outstanding school experience for children and young people – in line with the Trust’s vision. As a recently formed Multi-Academy Trust, founded on existing school partnerships in Yorkshire, we are proud of what we have achieved so far and excited about the future.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and an Enhanced DBS check will be required for this post. We aim for diversity within our workforce.
