Primary Phase Leaser and Class Teacher job summary
We are seeking an outstanding, compassionate, and forward-thinking primary practitioner to join our Middle Leadership Team as Primary Phase Leader.
Teaching First: Outstanding classroom practice is the foundation of effective leadership at Daventry Hill School. You will fulfil full class teaching commitments for an assigned primary class, supported by allocated Leadership Release Time to perform your middle leadership responsibilities.
As Phase Leader, you will:
Drive EHCP Provision & Therapy Integration: Ensure that individual Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes—which form a core component of our curriculum—are effectively delivered in the classroom alongside national curriculum subjects, embedding therapies (Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy) in collaboration with class staff and the Pastoral Manager to prepare pupils for adulthood.
Collaborate on Annual Reviews: Work as part of a collaborative leadership team under the direction of the Deputy Headteacher to support primary class teachers in preparing high-quality, timely Annual Review documentation.
Lead & Nurture Staff: Line manage, mentor, and conduct appraisals and Pupil Progress Reviews for designated primary teachers, fostering departmental wellbeing and professional growth.
Share EVC Leadership: Act as an Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) as part of a dedicated team of school leaders, ensuring off-site educational visits are safe, enriching, and fully risk-assessed.
Lead Whole-School PSHE & RSHE: Lead PSHE and RSHE across the school under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher, alongside coordinating primary milestone events (e.g., Primary Nativity and EYFS/Year 6 Graduations). (Note: Whole-school portfolio responsibilities are periodically reviewed to align with school priorities).
About You
We are looking for a leader who:
Is an exemplary primary teacher with proven experience in special educational needs or a passion for adaptive pedagogy.
Understands that EHCP outcomes are central to a child's curriculum and personal development.
Demonstrates high emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to staff and pupil wellbeing.
Is a collaborative team player who embodies our values of Positivity, Curiosity, Resilience, Community, and Respect.
Has experience or training (or a willingness to undertake training) in Educational Visits Coordination within a shared leadership framework.
