Primary School Teacher job summary
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious and nurturing Primary School Teacher to join The Beacon at Holderness Academy. This role is part-time, comprising 20 hours per week. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:20am to 12:20pm.
This is a new and exciting role and represents a significant development in our inclusive provision. As The Beacon continues to grow and evolve, this is a fantastic opportunity for an excellent primary practitioner to join us at an important stage of its development and help shape an ambitious provision for some of our most vulnerable learners.
The Beacon is Holderness Academy’s Learning Support Department and Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP) for Autism. It provides a supportive, flexible and nurturing environment for learners with a wide range of additional needs, enabling them to access an education that is responsive to their individual starting points while remaining part of the wider Academy community.
We are specifically seeking a Primary School Qualified Teacher because some of the young people accessing The Beacon require teaching approaches, curriculum sequencing and pedagogy more commonly associated with the primary phase. You will use your primary expertise to provide engaging, accessible and ambitious learning that builds strong foundations and enables learners to experience success and make meaningful progress.
This is an opportunity to do more than simply step into an established teaching post. You will become part of a committed team that is developing and shaping The Beacon's offer, with the opportunity to bring your own ideas, creativity and expertise to the role.
You will teach learners with a wide range of additional needs, ensuring that every learner receives a high-quality education with the same ambition and expectations we have for all young people at Holderness Academy. Building positive relationships will be central to the role, alongside creating a structured, nurturing and engaging learning environment in which learners can develop academically, socially and emotionally.
Holderness Academy is part of The Consortium Academy Trust. We are ambitious about the future - creating learning environments and excellence in teaching and learning that provide our children and young people with the best chance of a successful future. Coupled with this is our commitment, care and investment in our people, who we believe are our greatest asset.
If you are a primary teacher who is passionate about inclusion, believes strongly in the potential of every young person and would relish the opportunity to help develop something exciting, we would love to hear from you.
About YouFirst and foremost, you will be an excellent Primary School Qualified Teacher who is passionate about ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
You will have strong knowledge of primary pedagogy and understand how to adapt teaching, curriculum content and resources to meet learners at their individual starting points. You will be creative, flexible and able to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
You will have high expectations while recognising that successful inclusion and progress can look different for individual learners. You will be able to work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, families and other professionals to provide a consistent and ambitious educational experience.
Previous experience of working with learners with SEND and/or autism would be desirable but is not essential. We are equally keen to hear from excellent primary practitioners who have an interest in inclusive education and are excited by the opportunity to develop their SEND knowledge and expertise as part of a supportive and experienced team.
You will have experience of working with children and young people and demonstrate a strong awareness of safeguarding, positive behaviour management and the importance of creating safe, supportive learning environments.
Please see the attached job description and person specification for the full requirements of the position.
What WE can Offer YOUIn return for your skills, enthusiasm and commitment, we can offer a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting development within Holderness Academy and to help shape the future of The Beacon. For an informal discussion about this post, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Ashbridge, Assistant Headteacher via telephone 01482 899315 or email ashbridgek@holderness.academy
You will join a supportive and committed team with inclusion at its heart, alongside opportunities to develop your knowledge and expertise in SEND and autism while continuing to use the primary teaching skills and pedagogy that you bring to the role.
As part of The Consortium Academy Trust, we provide a supportive and friendly environment in which colleagues can develop and thrive. We offer all staff access to an excellent pension (TPS), an excellent new staff induction programme, a commitment to high-quality continued professional development and free onsite car parking.
