What skills and experience we're looking for

William Leech Primary School has a unique opportunity for a Primary SENDCo to work closely with the Headteacher to help lead the implementation and development of the SEND provision across our school. Although SENDCo experience is desirable, the NASENCo qualification is not essential. Professional development opportunities for the new SENDCO will be offered, including relevant statutory training as well as regular coaching from the Trust.

This role will primarily be based at William Leech Primary School, but the successful candidate may be asked to work at other sites within the Trust in the future.

Please note, there is an opportunity to visit the school at 3:45pm on Thursday 14th May. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to interview on Wednesday 20th May.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of SEND in the successful implementation of the Trust vision including its Christian character, and contribute to significantly raising standards of achievement for learners of all ages and abilities.
  • Support the development of systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing SEND provision.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support the learning and development of the children.
  • Attend consultation evenings and keep parents informed about their child’s progress.
  • Champion the consideration and development of all aspects of innovative practice in relation to SEND provision and the needs of individual learners with SEND.
