Principal - Primary job summary
We are looking to appoint an inspirational leader to build on the strengths of the school and the community. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an outstanding multi-academy trust where you can lead the school’s development whilst continuing to support its Christian values.
We look for a talented individual who wants to be a part of transforming education while helping to create an exceptional place for learning. To be successful, you will have:
- vision, commitment and high expectations, leading by example
- extensive experience in education and in providing strong, approachable and supportive leadership
- drive and passion to support our Trust values and play an active part in developing the Trust
- exceptionally high expectations for all students and give them every opportunity to succeed.
You will already have senior leadership responsibilities in a primary school, with the skill and vision to realise the huge potential of all-through education. You take overall responsibility for the performance of the academy. To do this well you will need to learn quickly, develop strong structures and provide clear strategic direction to the talented staff team. In turn, you will be supported by the Principals of the Trust’s other primary schools, an experienced Director of Primary Education and our Chief Executive.
There is already much to be proud of at Richard Wakefield, but room to grow in pursuit of excellence. As we enter the next phase of our development, we need to build on successes and embrace future challenges.
About Us
At our school, everyone works with pride to achieve their personal best. We are a medium-sized, one and a half form entry (PAN 45), semi-rural school with 270 children from the ages of 4 -11. Since our last Ofsted inspection in April 2015, where the outcome was ‘good’, our number on roll has increased from 179 children.
We are a Church school and our ethos is based on clear Christian values, inspected regularly by SIAMS. Many of our children live in the lovely village of Tutbury, which is about five miles from Burton-upon-Trent and we are fortunate to have the spectacular setting of Tutbury Castle in the background.
In school we live our values of working hard, being kind and choosing wisely. We are privileged to work in a community where we have a positive impact on children’s lives and future every day, and learners are inspired to embark on a lifelong journey to develop knowledge, faith and skills.
