Principal job summary

Thames View Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Principal to lead the school into its next chapter.

At The Howard Academy Trust, we are dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities that empower pupils and cultivate a love of learning. Our mission is to "work together to build a community of successful learners." Thames View Primary School plays a vital role in delivering this vision, and we believe that appointing the right leader is fundamental to securing the very best outcomes for our children, families and staff.

Thames View Primary School is one of nine academies within The Howard Academy Trust, a medium-sized Trust serving communities across Medway, Kent and Southeast London. Our academies are united by a shared commitment to excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement, whilst retaining their own unique identity.

Situated on the edge of Rainham, Thames View is a popular, two form entry, well-established primary school. Supported by a committed staff team, engaged families and a strong local community, the school has many strengths on which to build. Our children are at the heart of everything we do and deserve the very highest quality education, care and opportunity.

This is an exciting time for the school. Following a period of change, we are seeking an inspirational and resilient leader who can provide stability, build trust, strengthen the culture of the school and deliver sustained improvement. We are looking for a principal who combines strategic vision with operational excellence and who believes passionately that every child can succeed.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Primary Education and the Local Academy Board to lead the next phase of Thames View's development. They will be committed to securing excellent teaching and learning, delivering a rich and ambitious curriculum, developing staff, strengthening relationships with families and ensuring that all pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We are particularly interested in hearing from leaders who have:

  • A proven track record of successful school improvement.
  • High expectations for all pupils and staff.
  • Strong experience of leading teaching and learning.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and create a culture where staff flourish.
  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and equitable outcomes for all pupils.
  • The confidence and credibility to lead through change whilst maintaining staff wellbeing and morale.

As a Trust Principal, the successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team of school leaders who work together to improve outcomes across all our academies. This is an opportunity to shape the future of Thames View Primary School.
We warmly welcome visits to the school prior to application. If you would like to arrange a call or visit, have any questions or require further information, please contact the Director of Primary Education, SEND and Inclusion, Caron Johnson, via email - cjohnson@thatrust.org.uk
We look forward to hearing from ambitious and values-driven leaders who are ready to make a lasting difference to the children, staff and community of Thames View Primary School.
