Closing date: 23rd February 2026 Interview date: 2nd March 2026

Do you want a role where every day you make a visible difference to young people’s lives?

Millfield is a vibrant, oversubscribed 11–16 secondary school with an exceptional reputation for behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and pastoral care. We are seeking a passionate, resilient and ambitious Progress Lead to join our dynamic Pastoral Team and play a pivotal role in supporting students to flourish both personally and academically.

This is a high‑impact, non‑teaching role for someone who believes that strong relationships, consistency and high expectations can transform life chances.

Why Millfield?

  • Award‑winning provision: Nationally recognised awards for Behaviour, Attendance, Wellbeing, SEND, Careers and CPL.
  • Outstanding culture: Behaviour is calm, consistent and widely recognised as exceptional. Our students are a delight to work with; they are respectful and kind.
  • Strong team ethos: Staff collaborate through shared practice and strong teamwork; morale is high.
  • Ambition for all: Background is never a barrier; we are relentless in creating bright futures for every student.
  • Oversubscribed and outward‑facing: A school of choice for our community for over 15 years.

The Role

As a Progress Lead, you will take strategic responsibility for a year group of approximately 175 students, supporting them throughout their journey until they leave us in Year 11.

You will be a key pastoral leader, working alongside Form Tutors, teaching staff, families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and ensure students attend well, behave well and feel safe, supported and motivated.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the pastoral support and progress of your year group
  • Building strong, professional relationships with students and families
  • Monitoring attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, and implementing timely interventions
  • Supporting reintegration following periods of absence
  • Delivering high‑quality assemblies and contributing to form time provision
  • Managing and supporting Form Tutors to ensure consistency and high standards
  • Working closely with the Behaviour and Progress Manager and Family Support Worker
  • Liaising with external agencies to support vulnerable students
  • Contributing to a calm, orderly school environment through visible presence

You will also undertake Cover Supervisor duties, delivering pre‑planned lessons across the school when required, enabling you to build positive relationships with students beyond your year group.

Who We’re Looking For

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or pastoral setting
  • Is confident, calm and consistent, with high expectations of behaviour and conduct
  • Can balance empathy with firmness and professionalism
  • Communicates effectively with students, families and colleagues
  • Is organised, reflective and solution‑focused
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and equality

You do not need to be a qualified teacher; what matters most is character, credibility and commitment.

We are a small, family school with around 850 students in roll. The school is hugely popular; some of our families have even moved to ensure they are in our catchment area, and we have been vastly oversubscribed for the last ten years. Behaviour at Millfield is excellent and there is a real belief in the Team Millfield ethos.
The school is proud to have won the Secondary School National Pupil Premium award in 2014 and in 2015 the Chief of Ofsted chose to visit us, the only secondary school in the North West, and said our students were ‘delightful’. In May 2017 Ofsted confirmed that we continue to be a ‘good’ school and leadership at Millfield remains ‘outstanding’. Our Progress 8 results in 2017 were the best on the Fylde Coast. With a new curriculum model planned for September 2019 we look to continue to ‘Create Bright Futures’ for all our students.
