Qualified Teacher of English to work alongside English Leadership Team (ELT) job summary

Teaching is one of the most direct ways to make an impact and if you are driven by the desire to give back, to help those around you and make an invaluable contribution, we would be interested in receiving an application from you. You will work alongside the ELT to lead a full review of assessment provision by year group and by stage. The review will require working with colleagues across the English team to glean their feedback and views on recent curriculum improvements and the role assessment plays with this. You will drive the development of the current assessment strategy into its next stage - consistent implementation that has positive impact for students. This will include working alongside the ELT driving the team’s approach to the setting of meaningful and quality homework. We see this role being ideal for an individual looking at the next stage of career development and can offer access to wide ranging leadership development and support for the right candidate. You will be a strong classroom practitioner with a genuine passion for assessment and the role assessment plays in the quality of English provision. You will be a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning. You should be a passionate lifelong learner who is hardworking and enthusiastic with excellent subject knowledge. You will want to extend this beyond the classroom by sharing practice with colleagues and to contribute to our in-house programme of continuing professional development. Brune Park School is proud to be part of the Gosport and Fareham Multi Academy Trust (GFM). The GFM comprises 5 schools; Bay House School, Gomer Junior School, LWS Academy, Brune Park School and Rowner Junior School.

Brune Park School is located in Gosport in the south east county of Hampshire. Gosport is an increasingly popular coastal destination with a strong naval heritage. Gosport benefits from being a stone’s throw from Portsmouth and its many amenities and has excellent transport links. As well as an abundance of picturesque coastal walks and nature reserves on the doorstep, Gosport is home to two parks and accessible to a scenic beach, perfect for outdoors types, runners, cyclists, water sports enthusiasts or families looking for a taste of the great outdoors.

Brune Park School is at an exciting stage of development and improvement and the school community is growing prouder, more confident and more successful at every stage. We are proud of each of our students and our commitment and drive is for every young person to achieve beyond their expectation and progress to where they previously had not imagined or thought possible.

We have worked very hard to secure the improvements at the school. In our last Ofsted we were graded as ‘good’ for both Leadership and management and Personal Development. Inspectors reported that Brune Park is a friendly and welcoming school where pupils and staff get along well together.
