RE Leader (Senior Leader Responsibility)

We are seeking an excellent teacher and aspiring or experienced senior leader to join our dedicated team at St Wilfrid's Catholic Academy, taking on the responsibility of leading Religious Education across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed professional to play a central role in shaping the Catholic life of the academy, driving high standards in Religious Education, and inspiring pupils’ spiritual, moral, and academic development.

As part of our leadership team, you will have the opportunity to influence whole‑school practice, support colleagues, and champion our mission as a Catholic school. Comprehensive support, mentoring, and access to Trust-wide RE leadership networks will be provided to help you thrive in this important role.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the Religious Education curriculum across the school
Deliver high-quality, engaging RE lessons that inspire, motivate, and deepen pupils' understanding of faith
Promote a love of learning, reflection, and spiritual growth
Plan and structure RE lessons effectively to secure strong learning outcomes
Support and guide colleagues with subject knowledge, planning, and pedagogy
Lead and contribute to high-quality collective worship and liturgical events
Monitor and assess standards in RE, providing meaningful feedback and driving improvement

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Commitment to upholding and promoting the Catholic ethos of the school
Strong subject knowledge in Religious Education
A commitment to professional development, leadership growth, and whole‑school improvement
Experience teaching in a primary school setting
Strong behaviour management and ability to build a positive, safe learning environment
A genuine passion for supporting children’s academic and spiritual development

Desirable Qualities

Experience teaching or leading Religious Education
Understanding of Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) expectations
Experience supporting colleagues or leading a curriculum area
Knowledge of current RE pedagogy and Catholic education documents
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
