Reader Scriber Exam Invigilator job summary

Sale High School is looking to appoint reliable, patient and professional Readers/Scribes to support students with approved examination access arrangements.

As a Reader/Scribe, you will provide 1:1 support to individual students during examinations and controlled assessments. You will work under the guidance of the Examinations Manager and must follow JCQ and examination board regulations to ensure students receive their approved support fairly and appropriately.

The role includes:

• Reading examination papers and assessment materials accurately to students.

• Scribing students’ answers clearly and accurately at a reasonable speed.

• Reading back questions or recorded answers when requested.

• Supporting students while ensuring examination conditions are maintained.

• Following strict JCQ regulations and exam procedures.

• Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding at all times.

• Reporting any communication difficulties or concerns to the invigilator.

• Ensuring all examination materials and paperwork are handled correctly.

• Attending required Reader/Scribe training.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has excellent literacy and numeracy skills.

• Is patient, calm and able to work confidently on a 1:1 basis.

• Has excellent communication and listening skills.

• Has strong attention to detail and can follow instructions accurately.

• Can remain impartial and professional throughout examinations.

• Understands the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality.

• Has experience working with children or young people (desirable).

• Is available to work during our main examination periods.

Pay: £13.45 per hour (£15.07 including holiday pay)
Contract: Zero hours - minimum 2 hours’ pay
Exam periods: November, February/March and May/June/July
Training: Full training will be provided.
