Place of work: Melbourn Village College, Melbourn, Royston
At Melbourn Village College we are committed to achieving Excellence for All through Kindness, Curiosity and Resilience. We believe that reading is fundamental to every child’s success, opening doors to learning, opportunity and lifelong curiosity. As part of a Trust where reading is a key strategic priority, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil develops the reading skills, confidence and fluency they need to thrive.
We are excited to introduce this new role of Reading Intervention Co-ordinator, created to accelerate the work required to deliver our school reading strategy and strengthen the impact of our reading provision. This is an opportunity for a passionate and knowledgeable practitioner to make a tangible difference to pupils’ outcomes while helping to embed a consistent, effective approach to reading intervention across the school.
Working one day per week on a fixed-term basis, you will play a key role in identifying pupils who need additional support, co-ordinating and delivering targeted reading interventions, and monitoring their impact. You will ensure that provision is responsive to pupils’ individual needs and that interventions are purposeful, evidence-informed and focused on securing measurable progress.
A central element of the role will be developing the expertise and confidence of our teaching assistants. You will provide training, guidance and practical support to establish effective reading intervention programmes and ensure their consistent delivery.
If you share our belief that reading is the foundation of opportunity, and are excited by the prospect of helping us accelerate our reading strategy within a Trust that places reading at the heart of its priorities, we would love to hear from you.
