Reading Mentor - Fixed Term job summary
We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic and approachable individual to join West Walsall E-ACT Academy as a Reading Mentor on a fixed term contract. The successful candidate will work with teachers to support teaching and learning by providing specialist support to the students in an aspect of reading mentor. To promote and manage the use of the library, supporting pupils’ learning and their development into confident, independent readers and supporting whole school literacy aims.
Reporting to the Academy’s Literacy Lead, this post holder will be accountable for:
- Select appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities, differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs students
- Assess, record, and report on development, progress and attainment
- Ensuring that the Library is stocked with an up-to-date range of relevant books and resources
- Liaising with teaching colleagues regarding their requirements and recommendations
- Creating displays that link to what is being taught in school
- Ensuring that internet use within the library is safe and suitable for users

- Responsible for the Health and Safety, security and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with E-ACT’s policies and procedures, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
