Reception and Admin Assistant job summary

GWA are looking to recruit a Reception and Admin Assistant to join our Office team from September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is for 34.25 hours per week, term time only (including 5 TD days). The hours of work are 8.30am - 3.15pm Monday and Friday and 8.30am - 4.15pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. However, we will consider some flexibility to this if the needs of the school are met, so do please specify any requirements in your application.

The rate of pay is NJC Scale 4-6 £13.05 - £13.47 (pay rise pending)

Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in all years and has a flourishing sixth form to match. We are seeking an approachable and committed person, ideally with previous experience in a busy school office, to join our friendly and supportive existing Office team.

The primary responsibility will be to act as the first point of contact at GWA, along with your counterpart receptionist, undertaking all aspects of reception duties, including receiving visitors to the school, answering the phones, dealing with queries and taking messages, supporting students with queries and first aid. The role will also involve general clerical and administration tasks.

The ideal candidate should provide good customer service, with excellent ICT and communication skills. We are seeking an individual who is well-organised, efficient, flexible, calm, friendly, motivated and passionate about providing an excellent support service to our pupils, parents, staff and visitors. Training and development are provided and encouraged within the school.
