What skills and experience we're looking for
At South Hykeham Community Primary School, we believe that being a small school means we can dream big. We are proud to be a welcoming, nurturing and ambitious school where every child is known, every achievement matters and every member of our team can make a real difference.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and committed teacher to join our team from January 2027 to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Early Years and Key Stage 1, understands how young children learn and wants to be part of a school where relationships, creativity and high aspirations sit at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Has a genuine passion for teaching Reception and/or Key Stage 1 children and understands early childhood development.
- Creates engaging, purposeful learning experiences that inspire curiosity and build strong foundations.
- Understands the importance of play, continuous provision and outdoor learning where appropriate.
- Builds warm, positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Promotes positive behaviour through clear expectations, consistency and nurturing relationships.
- Is reflective, adaptable and committed to ensuring every child makes progress.
- Enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to a supportive school team.
What the school offers its staff
We may be a small school, but we have big ambitions for our children and our staff. Our close-knit team works collaboratively to create a supportive environment where ideas are welcomed, expertise is shared and colleagues work together to give every child the best possible start to their education.
We understand that great teaching flourishes when teachers feel supported. We offer a strong package of curriculum resources, planning support and professional collaboration, helping you focus on what matters most: delivering engaging learning and meeting the needs of your pupils. Our staff benefit from access to Kapow Primary, providing a wealth of curriculum resources and planning materials to support creative, engaging and well-sequenced learning.
