Receptionist job summary

Arden School are looking for an enthusiastic front of house receptionist to join our busy reception and administrative team to work two days a week. The main focus of the role would be within main school, from 11-16 years of age. This is a non-teaching role as a key member of our administrative and reception team. The successful applicant will be based at reception and will act as a first point of contact for all visitors to the school and the voice of Arden on all calls.

The successful candidate will be calm, confident, assertive, patient, and be an extremely effective communicator. The successful applicant will have excellent customer service skills.

This role is part-time, working 16.5 hours per week over 2 days (7:45am – 4.30pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch) for 39 weeks of the year.

Key responsibilities:

To act as a first point of contact for visitors to the school.

To ensure that safeguarding requirements for visitors are met with reference to the school Single Central Record (SCR).

To answer all incoming phone calls in a polite and efficient manner and transfer to the appropriate member of staff or take messages as required.

To liaise with the Student Services Officer with regards to any pupils who are unwell and make phone calls home to parents as required.

To provide administrative support to the School Office team; knowledge of Word, Excel, Google Docs/Sheets are essential and knowledge of SIMS is desirable.

Qualities required:

Ability to orally communicate effectively with a range of audiences

Previous experience of working in a customer service role

Ability to multi task while remaining calm and professional

Ability to work under own initiative
