Receptionist job summary

As the Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the school, providing a warm, professional and efficient welcome to all visitors, parents and stakeholders. You will play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the school by managing reception services, handling enquiries, coordinating visitor access in line with safeguarding procedures, and supporting a wide range of administrative and operational tasks.

This is a varied and fast-paced role requiring excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, a strong commitment to confidentiality and data protection, and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. You will work closely with staff, students and external partners, contributing to a safe, supportive and well-organised school environment while upholding the values of Orion Education.

The postholder will also support wider school activities, including events, examinations and general administrative functions, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to meeting the needs of a busy secondary school.
