Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

About this role

We are looking for someone within commutable distance of our London academies (ideally based in west London) and with ability to travel to the other academies in the south region. You will be an essential member of the central infrastructure and sustainability team, having oversight of our academies within the London and south region, providing them with specialist advice and guidance.

You will be onsite working for several days a week at our London academies while you get established in the role. There will also be a requirement to travel nationally occasionally.

You will support the delivery of Ormiston’s strategic direction for infrastructure and sustainability by monitoring and evaluating progress against the plans, actively providing a link between the academies in the region and the central team and leadership group.

This role is key in supporting our aim to provide top class opportunities for all by working with the wider regional and central teams to deliver service to academies that allow them to operate economically, effectively, safely, and efficiently and provide suitable environments for staff and pupils.

About Ormiston Academies Trust

Our vision is to create a school system where every child thrives, regardless of background. Our people are at the heart of our approach – they are our greatest asset.

There’s nothing more important than educating the next generation, and our teams across Ormiston are continuing to undertake excellent work to make sure that the opportunities we provide have the greatest impact for every child and young person. If you join us at Ormiston, whatever your role, you can be sure of a role with purpose and meaning.

Ormiston, where every member of staff enjoys…

  • The opportunity to build on the legacy of those who came before – being part of one of the longest standing Trusts, created with the sole purpose of enabling children and young people to thrive
  • Working for a Trust nationally recognised for its impact on disadvantaged children – a rewarding, stimulating career where staff are challenged to be the best they can be, for the pupils we are proud to serve
  • Being part of a team and community where you belong – receiving bespoke and holistic support from a well-resourced and ambitious network of experts and professionals that work at the heart of communities
  • A supportive environment to grow your career – an extensive professional development programme, alongside flexible working arrangements and generous benefits

About you

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead projects from inception to completion and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Key attributes include flexibility, adaptability, a proactive mindset and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

The successful candidate will possess a strong background in facilities and estates management, with essential qualifications including a minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial or operational role, expertise in managing budgets and external contracts along with a comprehensive understanding of building systems and statutory regulations. A foundation degree or higher and accreditation by professional bodies such as BIFM, RICS, or CABE are desirable, alongside qualifications in health and safety (NEBOSH or IOSH) and a strong knowledge of relevant ICT packages.

The role demands experience in project and asset management, procurement and conducting building assessments, with the ability to ensure value for money and maintain high standards. Candidates with experience in school settings or interpreting government legislation for schools are particularly encouraged to apply.

The role requires that the successful candidate is ideally west London based or has the ability to travel across the region to regularly work onsite at our London academies with occasional national travel. If you are a skilled professional with a passion for maintaining high-quality learning environments and ensuring compliance, we would love to hear from you.

  • Discounts on retail, travel, and leisure through our benefits platform.
  • Free and confidential legal, tax and health 24/7 helpline.

And much more as part of a leading multi-academy trust.
