RLT Head of Community Development job summary

In this exciting new role, we are searching for an inspirational Head of Community Development to spearhead a monumental strategic initiative: designing and rolling out sustainable community hubs. This is your chance to move beyond the school gates, providing the vision and strategic focus required to champion best practice in community engagement and cement schools as true, vibrant hearts of their communities across Oxfordshire.

We are looking for a visionary strategist to provide the core focus for designing, piloting, and implementing sustainable community hubs.

This pivotal role is dedicated to championing ground-breaking community engagement, ensuring our schools are not just educating students, but are integral, beating hearts that uplift and serve their surrounding communities across the entirety of Oxfordshire county.

The Head of Community Development will champion best practice in community engagement to ensure our schools are placed at the heart of their communities. You will take responsibility for developing and executing a strategic and operational plan for the hub and offer operational and strategic support to schools developing community hubs. This involves cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders—including local authorities, businesses, parents, carers, and community members—to mobilise local assets and foster connection. The ultimate goal is ensuring community activities directly contribute to improved educational, social, and economic outcomes for the children and families we serve.

This a hybrid role working remotely, in the RLT central team offices and across schools.

The working pattern is negotiable for the right candidate. We are looking for between 30 - 37 hours per week. This role can be term time (plus 2-4 closure weeks working) or all year round. Tell us what would suit you and we will see what we can do!

Please see the attached candidate information pack for the job description and person specification
