Safeguarding and Family Support Lead

Full time, Term Time + 5 days, Permanent, to commence as soon as possible

Salary: Salary Pro rata of Points 23 to 32 (on the NJC Support Staff pay scale (currently £28,634 to £35,905 – with pay award pending)

As a result of the planned retirement of the current Safeguarding and Family Support Lead, on 31 December 2024, after 40 very successful years at the school, we are looking to appoint a new Safeguarding and Family Support Lead from December 2024.

This role has evolved over the years to become the role that it is today, you will work as part of the leadership team and report directly to the Principal for this crucial role. As a Safeguarding and Family Support Lead you will take responsibility for safeguarding within the school, this means that on a daily basis you will be liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on matters of wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding and will be a great source of support, advice and expertise for the school. Through this role you will also have the support of the Pinnacle DSL network who meets regularly.

We are looking for a kind and caring member of staff that will have excellent organisation skills and will be passionate about ensuring that no child slips through the net. You will be a good communicator and able to deal with parents and the wider community.

The Pinnacle Learning Trust

The Pinnacle Learning Trust was established in 2017 as a result of the long-standing, strong and effective relationship between The Hathershaw College and Oldham Sixth Form College. Werneth Primary School joined our Trust in February 2019 and Broadfield Primary School in April 2023 and most recently, Alexandra Park junior School in April 2024. Our work is built upon our shared belief that young people in Oldham and the local area should have access to excellent educational provision. We celebrate students’ uniqueness and support our young people to flourish and become responsible, successful citizens who contribute positively to their communities. Our collective aim, articulated through our mission statement, is to improve the lives and life chances of young people through the development of outstanding practice based upon partnership.

The Trust’s central services teams include: HR and Payroll, IT Services and MIS, Finance and Estates. Their aim is to enhance the experience of students and staff across the Trust by providing effective and efficient central services which support them to achieve their goals.

Our Trust invests in each member of staff, offering them professional development opportunities, including an extensive in-house professional development offer for both teachers and support staff, in areas such as: Leadership, Teaching and Learning, Mental Health First Aid and role specific training. In addition, our staff have the opportunity to contribute to the professional development of others through designation as Evidence Leads in Education for the Research School; delivery of school-to-school support; support for trainee teachers and involvement with our work as a strategic partner with the East Manchester Teaching School Hub and our Science Learning Partnership Hub.
