37 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm, Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm​

30-minute unpaid lunch break​

38 weeks per year, term time plus inset days

Salary: Band D Point 20 – 25

(£28,626.46 - £32,490.23 actual salary per annum)

A great opportunity has arisen to join the Pastoral Team at Thames Park Secondary School. We are looking to recruit a Safeguarding and Welfare Manager for September 2025. The start date is negotiable to an earlier date if the successful candidate can start sooner. The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of effective safeguarding and child protection throughout the school by supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The Safeguarding and Welfare Manager will demonstrate the highest levels of commitment and compliance to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. They will also effectively Line Manage the Student Wellbeing Officer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading safeguarding practices and triaging concerns in line with statutory guidance.
  • Managing referrals and coordinating support for vulnerable students, including mental health and wellbeing.
  • Liaising with external agencies and attending multi-agency meetings to ensure effective protection.
  • Supporting staff with training, guidance, and promoting a whole-school culture of safeguarding


The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate, motivated, and have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to multitask and stay calm under pressure and remain positive
  • Have GCSE Maths & English – 4-9 or equivalent and strong IT skills
  • Have excellent written skills with the ability to multi-task
