What skills and experience we're looking for

1. Qualifications / Training / Experience

GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent.

Level 3 Safeguarding Training or commitment to complete training.

Experience of working in a safeguarding role or similar role supporting young people and families.

Evidence of qualities/experience that would suggest suitability for working with and supporting the needs of students (ideally in a post-16 setting).

Qualification in Mental Health.

Mental Health First Aid qualification.

Knowledge of educational developments.

Supporting the senior leadership team in safeguarding the welfare of students at the college as Safeguarding Officer, you will deliver across several core areas of the college’s work: safeguarding, training, attendance and well-being.

To be successful in this, we believe you should have a proven track record of developing strong relationships with young people, a thorough grasp of the principles and practices of effective safeguarding, a whole-hearted commitment to delivering outstanding pastoral care and a clear understanding of how that care’s core purposes (in the context of the college) are to ensure students’ well-being and academic success.
