Full Time Permanent, commencing as soon as possible

Salary - The role is part of the Pastoral and Student Welfare Job Family and is placed in Pay Band 3 (Professional) and has a minimum starting salary of £29,778.00 per annum (Full Time Equivalent), £25,694.00 (Actual). The salary is pro-rata’d for Term Time Only and paid evenly over 12 calendar months, irrespective of when school holidays fall.

Thank you for your interest in applying to be a Safeguarding Officer at William Hulme’s Grammar School, primarily based in the Secondary Phase (WHGS).

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to the role of Safeguarding Officer. You will have experience of working with young people and families within a safeguarding and child protection environment and you will be able to work adaptively and flexibly across our school. As the Safeguarding Officer, you will have a strong understanding of our school culture and community and will understand the value of working with internal and external partners.

The Safeguarding Officer will work with the wider Safeguarding team to safeguard and protect the young people and staff of William Hulme’s Grammar School. You will play a critical role in taking responsibility for child protection, supporting staff to carry out their safeguarding duties and act in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation.

William Hulme’s Grammar School is the second most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.

The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre, a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including fully equipped science labs, a library, ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms. There is also a sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.
