School Administrator job summary

We are seeking an organised, personable and highly capable School Administrator to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a pivotal role at the centre of school life, where no two days are the same and your work makes a real difference to children, families and staff.

Our school office is the first point of contact for parents, visitors and pupils. We are looking for someone who takes pride in providing a warm, professional welcome, who thrives in a busy environment, and who brings calm, good judgement and attention to detail to everything they do.

About the role

As School Administrator, you will:

  • Be the friendly and professional first point of contact for parents, visitors and external agencies
  • Provide high-quality administrative support to the Headteacher, leadership team and wider school
  • Manage a wide range of administrative systems including SIMS and ParentMail
  • Support statutory processes, including preparation of school census information
  • Assist with financial administration, including payments and monitoring
  • Support safeguarding processes, including DBS checks and confidentiality of records
  • Help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of a busy school office

This role requires excellent organisation, strong communication skills, discretion, and the ability to prioritise effectively while remaining approachable and calm.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children and adults alike
  • Is highly organised, efficient and proactive
  • Can communicate clearly and professionally, even in challenging situations
  • Has strong IT skills and confidence using school systems (or is keen to learn)
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and data accuracy
  • Takes pride in being reliable, supportive and solutions-focused

Experience of working in a school office is desirable, but not essential — training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

We offer:

  • A welcoming, supportive school community
  • A leadership team who value and respect the role of the school office
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • A role where your work is genuinely appreciated and impactful
