School Business Manager job summary

About this Role

The School Business Manager plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the school. This role involves overseeing the planning, development, and delivery of the school’s support functions and managing the school’s finances. Working closely with the leadership team, the School Business Manager helps ensure that resources are used effectively to support high-quality education that reflects the school’s vision and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial management including budgeting, monitoring expenditure, and financial reporting.

  • Manage school administrative systems, including admissions, HR, and compliance with data protection and safeguarding policies.

  • Lead and develop the administrative team to deliver high-quality support services.

  • Coordinate procurement and contracts to ensure best value and compliance with school policies.

  • Support the Headteacher and Governing Body with strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure the smooth running of premises management, health and safety, and school facilities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in school business management or a similar role within an educational setting.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial systems.

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including safeguarding, data protection, and health and safety.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and external partners.

  • A proactive, flexible approach with a commitment to the school’s vision and values.

    Full Time 37 hrs per week (42 week contract)
