What skills and experience we're looking for
Undertake any emergency and daily cleaning during the day quickly and efficiently and in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
Responsibility for cleaning a set area of college and provide cover in the event of cleaner absence.
Ensure a high standard of cleanliness at all times.
Monitor toilet/wash areas ensuring adequate toilet rolls, hand towels and soap are available.
Participate in first aid training as required and support the school first aid team.
Assist with all repair and maintenance work.
Be responsible for receipt and distribution of all deliveries, liaise where necessary with office staff to arrange distribution to relevant areas.
Arrange movement of any furniture and teaching equipment as required.
Ensure that the academy and its external grounds are kept clean throughout the day, ensure the general tidiness of all external areas, ensure litter bins are emptied daily and that the site is free from litter throughout the day.
Ensure prompt cleaning of sickness and spillages as required.
Ensure all bursts, leaks, flooding, fires and breakages are dealt with promptly and safely as appropriate.
Ensure all electrical and gas emergencies are dealt with promptly and safely as appropriate.
Ensure lighting is kept in good working order.
Carry out maintenance and repairs to the building, furniture and equipment within the scope of a competent handyperson, including the cleaning of drains and gullies.
Maintain constant awareness of the physical condition of the building, furniture and equipment and taking appropriate steps to ensure maintenance and repairs where necessary.
To ensure that snow plans are implemented and areas are gritted/salted during adverse weather conditions. Provide safe access to the academy in the event of snow, ice or flooding.
Whilst on duty be contactable by telephone or radio.
Attend training courses or sessions as necessary
Participate in college events as required, eg parents evenings and open evenings
Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Principal/School Business Manager.
