What skills and experience we're looking for

Cove School is seeking a School Caretaker to join our site team. We currently have a Site Manager and two school caretakers. Working under the direction of the Site Manager and working closely with the wider school community, you will oversee day to day site operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the site remains a clean, safe and fully functioning environment. This is a varied role combining physical work and health & safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • General maintenance carrying out essential repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating
  • Site security, open and close the school daily, manage alarms and perform key holding duties
  • Grounds upkeep, keeping the school grounds tidy, manage waste disposal and complete seasonal tasks such as gritting during winter

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in caretaking, site management or trade
  • Be reliable and dependable
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal staff and external contractors
  • Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of all children
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures and safeguarding requirements
