22.5 hours per week, term time only

The School Counsellor plays a crucial role in proactively cultivating and safeguarding the positive mental health and well-being of our students. Extensive evidence highlights that school-based counselling is a powerful and leading intervention for preventing the escalation of significant mental health problems in young people.

Working closely with the Assistant Principal/SENDCo and other members of staff, the post holder will not only orchestrate a comprehensive and diverse suite of essential support services, but also contribute to the strategic oversight and preparation of mental health support across all Key Stages. This ensures students benefit from quality first counselling as they progress through their education. This strategic collaboration will empower students with the resilience, emotional coping mechanisms, and vital toolkit necessary to effectively address their mental health and well-being challenges, thereby contributing directly to enhanced academic and personal outcomes for these young people.

The successful candidate will share our values, be passionate and be able to drive students forward on their educational journey. Understanding their individual needs and collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to put appropriate plans in place with the individual at the heart of everything we do. The postholder will have the ability to demonstrate their commitment to the role and how they can support the trust in fostering collaboration ensuring the continual improvement of the quality of students' learning is at the top of the business agenda.
