Purpose of the role

To provide supervision for students during the mid-day break to ensure maintenance of good order, good behaviour, discipline and the safety and welfare of students.

DETAILS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisepupilsboth inside the building and outside in the school grounds during the mid-day break.

  • Supervisepupilsin designated dining areas during the mid-day break while they are eating their lunch, including assisting with feeding programmes were necessary.

  • Clean tables, chairs and floor of spillages and debris between sittings, prior to the tables being re-used. Clean up spillages as they occur.

  • Report any incidents or concerns about the behaviour or safety of students usingappropriate schoolreporting systems.

Post holdersrequire:

  • Ability tomaintaingood conduct and discipline and ensure the general wellbeing of students.

  • Ability to show understanding of the needs of children on varying age groups

  • Able to act quickly and deal effectively with any situation which may arise.

  • Understand the need to maintain appropriate relationships with colleagues, teachers and other school staff and students and therefore be: -

  • Able to work on own initiative also as a team member

  • Able to act on instructions.

  • Able to maintain absolute confidentiality.

  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Experience of supervising students between the ages of 2 and 19.

  • Evidence of basic competence in English
