Thank you for your interest in working at Marksbury Church of England Primary School.
We have a wonderful staff team and the appointed person should be committed, enthusiastic and prepared to work energetically as part of our team.
Marksbury Primary School is a thriving village school. We aim to give our children a breadth of experiences to prepare them for their next step. We offer a wide variety of additional learning experiences in school time and many extra-curricular activities after school.
Marksbury is a rural school in a lovely traditional setting. It was established in 1873, and serves the attractive village of Marksbury and the surrounding area. The school is situated just off the A39 Bath to Wells road with easy access to Bath (5 miles) and Bristol. The school is now part of The Partnership Trust, which is a multi-academy trust with member schools in Bath and Somerset.
The school is very popular, with children coming from a wide area and varied social and economic backgrounds. Many children come to school by home-to-school transport, which is provided by the local authority. The school enjoys very close links with the local community, including the church and also involves itself in joint events with other schools within B&NES. We hope that the person appointed would be prepared to help us foster these links.
The school provides a friendly, caring environment with high expectations of academic achievement and pupil behaviour, in which each child is encouraged to develop his or her talents and abilities to the full. We believe that the process of education should be a partnership that involves children, teachers, parents and other adults.
A system of positive behaviour management and associated rewards for children is used, so there is a calm and purposeful atmosphere in the school. The commitment of all staff to whole school discipline ensures that the system is always effective. The staff seek to create a learning environment, which will stimulate children, but also has a caring ethos. Children and all adults within the school are valued and respected.
As a church school we follow a two year programme of Christian Values which are taught through collective worship and underpin our whole curriculum.
The governors of the school meet on a regular basis and are very supportive of the school and provide a wealth of experience from their varying backgrounds.
If you decide to apply, may I thank you for your time in completing the application form and the interest
you have shown in Marksbury School.
