School Nurse job summary

PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel. Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ which places inclusion and well-being at its heart. We currently have two schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, and Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019. We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational.

Following the success of our first ever Ofsted inspection at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls, we are looking for dedicated staff that will join us on our journey in delivering an outstanding education for all our students. Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls is looking to appoint a School Nurse who will play a pivotal role in the well-being of our students. Unlike many nursing positions, there are no regular nights or weekends, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential healthcare services to students within the school community
  • Assess and treat minor injuries and illnesses
  • Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records
  • Support students with ongoing medical conditions and allergies
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers and external healthcare professionals as required
  • Promote health and well-being through education and preventative measures
  • Contribute to the school’s safeguarding efforts

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (adult or child qualification)
  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
  • Previous experience in a school or paediatric nursing setting is desirable but not essential.
  • A caring and empathetic nature with a passion for promoting health and well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
