School Office Receptionist/Administrator job summary
Receptionist / Administrative Assistant
The Receptionist / Administrative Assistant plays a key role at the heart of Aragon Primary School, providing a professional, welcoming and efficient front‑of‑house service while supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of the school office. As the first point of contact for parents, pupils, visitors and external agencies, the role is central to creating a positive, safe and well‑organised school environment.
Working closely with the Office Manager and wider staff team, the postholder provides essential administrative support, particularly during busy morning periods, and contributes to effective communication, organisation and safeguarding across the school. The role combines reception duties with a broad range of administrative responsibilities, requiring discretion, resilience and strong organisational skills.
Key aspects of the role include managing telephone calls and the main school email inbox, welcoming and signing in visitors in line with safeguarding and site‑security procedures, processing pupil attendance, and supporting pupil welfare through first aid and pastoral liaison when required (training provided). The postholder also supports diary management, meetings, school events, wraparound care, trips and day‑to‑day office organisation, including printing, filing and resource preparation.
The successful candidate will be calm, friendly and professional, able to prioritise competing demands, maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a collaborative team. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working in a busy school environment and contributing positively to the life of a supportive and well‑established primary school community.
In addition to a positive and supportive work environment, we offer a range of benefits, including Benenden Healthcare, the Cycle to Work Scheme, and the Legacy Childcare Voucher Scheme. We also understand the importance of personal events and extend flexibility to our staff when needed.
What We Offer:
- A positive, caring school ethos that truly feels like a community, with a focus on collaboration and mutual support.
- A strong commitment to staff well-being, ensuring a healthy work-life balance and the necessary support for success.
- High-quality mentoring and guidance for Early Career Teachers, setting you up for a fulfilling and successful teaching career.
- Tailored professional development opportunities, allowing you to grow and advance within your career.
- A collaborative, team-oriented environment where all contributions are valued and shared learning experiences are central to our approach.
- Close professional links with Glenthorne High School and Abbey Primary School through the Willow Learning Trust, opening doors for further professional growth.
We have attached the Receptionist Information Pack to this role, which provides full details and is encouraged reading for all applicants.
