What the school offers its staff

About our Department;

Our Science department is friendly, supportive, and successful. We recruit very well at A-level, as students enjoy studying GCSE sciences and feel secure and motivated in studying with us post 16. We also have excellent staff retention - our team is well established and stable, offering plenty of support to new staff, wherever they are in their careers. You will be supported by an experienced Senior Science Technician and you will both be on hand to reinforce teaching and learning by bringing practical science to life. Join us, and you may never want to work anywhere else!

We have 7 specialist laboratories, 4 prep rooms, a science office/tea room with space to work. Our schemes of work are fully resourced so teachers can focus on adapting their teaching to the needs of their students - we work hard to be inclusive of all students and truly believe that all students are capable of succeeding.

We deliver a (fully resourced) bespoke KS3 programme of study that includes all of the KS3 science national curriculum content, and in many cases goes beyond it. This gives students an excellent start to GCSE, where we offer the AQA Separate sciences, and Combined Science Trilogy courses. At A-level, students also study the AQA specifications for Biology, Chemistry, Physics (including the astrophysics option), and Psychology.
